Local Star Terms & Conditions

1. Participation in the Local Star program constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions of entry.
2. Entry is open to selected members of TrueLocal.com.au that are permanent residents of Australia aged 18 years or over.
3. To be one of the Local Stars you must:
1. Be approved by TrueLocal’s editorial team
2. Have written 20 or more reviews
3. Post a real photo of yourself, your real first name and your suburb name to your TrueLocal profile
4. Update your TrueLocal profile with a short description about yourself
5. Have a Facebook profile
6. Write a minimum of four (4) genuine reviews on businesses listed on TrueLocal.com.au each month and post at least four (4) to your Facebook page each month. Each review must be unique and about a different business
7. Opt-in to receive updates and news from TrueLocal
8. Failure to abide by the rules could see your Local Star status removed
4. A Local Star badge will be placed on your profile photo and your reviews will be highlighted.
5. Participants must meet the minimum requirements for each review, must have had personal experience with the business they are reviewing, and should cover within their review;
1. What they liked/disliked about the business?
2. Would they use the service/business again?
3. Would they recommend the business to others?
4. Each review must be a minimum of 30 words.
6. All reviews become the property of TrueLocal. Reviews must be the entrant’s original work and plagiarism will result in instant disqualification from the program. By entering this program all participants:
1. Consent to TrueLocal making and publishing copies of the whole or part of their rating and review and otherwise utilising the entry and any rights in relation to the entry, to publicise this program or for any other purposes; and
2. Undertake that their review is not, and its use by TrueLocal will not be, in breach of any third party intellectual property rights.
7. Local Star status can be reviewed at any time by TrueLocal’s editorial team.
8. Each review received during the program will be individually moderated by representatives of TrueLocal to ensure content posted is not illegal, threatening, defamatory, invasive of privacy, infringing of intellectual property rights, indecent, libellous, hateful, obscene, or otherwise injurious to third parties or otherwise objectionable. When reviews have been passed through moderation – they become valid reviews.
9. Any gifts are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. Where any gifts become unavailable for any reason, TrueLocal reserves the right to substitute that incentive for another item of equal or greater value as determined by them.
10. TrueLocal may require participants to show that they are an Eligible Entrant. Validation may (at sole discretion of TrueLocal) include the entrant providing TrueLocal with:
1. Proof of permanent residence status; and
2. Proof of identity and age (identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of TrueLocal).
11. TrueLocal accepts no responsibility for any problems or technical malfunction of any communication network or for any late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected reviews, claims or correspondence arising from any error, omission, alteration, deletion, theft, destruction, transmission interruption and communications failure or otherwise. TrueLocal has no control over communication networks or lines and accepts no responsibility for any problems associated with them, whether due to network traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. TrueLocal is not liable for any costs incurred, responses received or any other consequences of user error. Any costs associated with accessing the TrueLocal.com.au website is the Eligible participants responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used.
12. TrueLocal is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any websites, or any combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in relation to the program.
13. TrueLocal and its associated agencies and companies shall not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss), damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (including but not limited to that arising from any person's negligence) in connection with this program, or using any incentive except any liability that cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
14. TrueLocal reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify all reviews from any person, and prohibit that person's further participation in this program, who tampers with, or benefits from any tampering with, the review process or the operation of the program or acts in violation of these conditions, acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any person or business.
15. All reviews become the property of TrueLocal. All program participants will be entered into a database and TrueLocal may use the participants’ names, addresses, telephone numbers and photographs for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes in any media worldwide without notice and without any fee being paid unless otherwise advised by the participant.
16. If for any reason this program is not capable of running as planned, including unauthorised intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond the control of TrueLocal, which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this program, TrueLocal reserves the right in it’s sole discretion to disqualify any participant who tampers with the review process.
17. In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes, prevents or hinders this program, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes; TrueLocal may in its absolute discretion cancel the program and recommence it from the start on the same conditions subject to state legislation.
